Is there a cheap way to get the PS2 to play DVDs through Component/RGB?

Oh you havent heard? If you try to play a DVD through an RGB cable on the PS2 it shows up green

I want to play DVDs through the PS2 with RGB without the Green screen

Bridge two pins inside the ps2 , cheapest way to do it. Just search ps2 rgb fix online , should find the relevent diagrams. Not sure if it can be done on the newer ps2's though.
thanks, it looks pretty easy but i've never soldered before

Wonder if i can do it with household stuff?

I used a RGB cable on my PS2 and it was fine.

No idea what you are on about:confused:

Either you have a PS2 version i havent heard of before that allows it...

ALL other PS2s ever produced have a restriction on DVD playback through an RGB cable, the restrictions forces the output to show the picture in Green.

You probably have a switchable RGB cable or something, thats what i use right now, i switch from RGB for games to composite for DVDs. I hope thats not the case, cause that would mean you've bought an RGB cable but have been running it in composite mode all this time :(

Without wishing to be a pain, its worth remembering that there is no talk of console mods allowed on this forum, so I would highly recommend taking down the link to the picture.

really? thats new, and annoying

the cable that I used was an official RGB cable and it worked pefect on all my TV`s..The picture quality was obviously loads better than the crappy composite you get as standard..

Sorry if no one belives me but thats the way it is..

Ok lets just confirm a few things.

1. You have fat/older PS2
2. You bought it new and it is unmodified/unopened
3. You play DVDs through the RGB cable and there is no green screen effect

If so, you must have a rare PS2 version that i dont know about that has no restrictions, or your console has been modified and you might not know about.

I can't see any other reason for it
