Is there a game out there?

Hi all, im in need of some help and didnt know where else to turn!

Basically, i cant find a good FPS. My roots are in FPS, Duke Nukem 3D > HL > Rogue Spear > CS > DOD > BF1942 / DC / Veitnam > CS:Source. When i first played all of those games they hit me hard and i was hooked!

Obviously im into PC only and as such, my rig is more than capable of running all the newer titles released at max settings full AA etc. None of them seem any good though. The most recent game ive tried been BC2. I just dont see what all the fuss is about, the BF franchise still havent got past the clunky feel to the game and i just dont feel connected at all. This wasnt a problem in 1942 because unlike CS (which was my game of choice at the time) i had tanks, jeeps & planes to attract my attention! Another of my recent purchases was MW2, complete waste of time for reasons well documented!

So im stuck with CoD:WAW and keep going back to it. Why? For the sole reason, theres nothing much better out! Sure it has many faults of it own, least of which is that it doesnt require much skill! Nevertheless, it runs well, doesnt look to dated, and on a bolt action server, there is a certain element of satisfaction when you hear that "plink" sound of a HS.

What frustrates me is having these powerhouse computers, quadcore sli etc for what? I want to use that power, but its gotta be on a game worth playing. As far as i can see other newer titles are MoH and Black-OP's to look forward to. Im not willing to waste more money on MoH as i am told it is a BC2 rehash and Black Ops i assume will just be like all the rest in the series. No game ive seen recently visually, or any other way blows me away, have i missed something??

Sorry i probably shouldve already said this, but i am not strictly a FPS kinda guy. I still play an MMO (swgemu) and RTS (CoH) regularly but my first port of call after a long day will always be an hour or so of FPS, just to get ya in the mood for not doing the housework!

I take on board what you say about CoD4 and i agree it was a good game, but for me you cant beat the old skool rifles is youre looking at the CoD series of game. Each to their own though. I cant agree with the +1 for BC2, i honestly dont see the attraction, they just seem so made for consoles. Thats all well and good but these sorts of games were made for PC first, just cuz all the kiddies are using consoles now, they make games that appear to the masses, i understand that. But dont segregate, make all servers open, joypads and kb/mouse all in together. You soon see an end to games been made without dedicated servers!

Ok... rant over, ive had a drink, apologies. But from what i see here, its pleasant to see there isnt much of an argument against what i say.
