I am using an Asus M2n-SLi with 2 x Gforce 9600GT Cards and an AMD Phenom 9750 CPU. My main interest is Flight Simulation but as I am getting
"lockups" I am considering an upgrade, particularly with the Graphics Card.
I don`t know how I tell how far I can go with the new cards or does it not really matter?
I would appreciate any guidance
Regards
George

If I knew just what that meant and entailed, perhaps I would try.
Unfortunately, as an elderly (80) non-technical individual I haven`t a clue

BTW - thanks for the welcome :-)

Does the lockups only happen when running Flight Simualtion or general usage.

Stress testing is were you run some software which puts load on the cpu and memory, you should run for 8 hrs without any problems.

Thanks Guys

I`ll tryout the OCCT programme.

Re your query RJC - it happens with my various flight simms but not in games like Far Cry 2

The OCCT test programme has come up with an error on Core 1 - (I am using an AMS Phenom Quad Core) so I assume this ios causing the problems I have ??
My screen resolution is 1280x800 normal - 1124x768 on Flight Sim.

Is it possible to 1deselect` one of the cores in the Quadcore COU?? or is this a replacement job??

How quickly does it come up with an error?

Also what test did you select in OCCT?

Shouldn't need a replacement but maybe just changing a couple of settings in the bios

About 40 minutes into the CPU test.
What setting would need to be changed and how

Would more than likely be either setting up the ram to the correct settings and voltage (should say what on the side of the sticks) as on auto may not be putting through the correct ones, or settings the CPU to the default voltage.

Unfortunately though I have very little experience with AMD so advice on it from is patchy at best, think the option to look for is voltage or memory tweaker, the tweaker bit definately rings a bell!
