Yes it it a very safe area that's why it's 1000 posts. Don't spam to get in there though just take part and you'll soon get to 1000.
The idea is its people who are involved in the community, rather than people joining up and getting access after only a few posts.
Could you imagine if you could just join and sell?

Well, yes. Terrible.
To get 1000 posts to rip someone off is so much effort.
Though the prices/ people like to drive a bargain for that added security.

nah ive been on many many years getting amazing help and advice and i would never plan on trying to spam to get there, i will just go as normal and hope to get there one day. i dont buy second pc items anywhere as i aint done for years after having bad times in ebay

It's not just 1,000 posts but you need to be a member for six months as well which is a bit more commitment to stop people joining, spamming and getting access very quickly.

Its an extra place to check as its very safe to buy and sell from so I can understand why the restrictions are in place.
Though trying to get a card from the members market with resonable pricing is like trying to get a new nvidia/amd card at non scalped pricing.

@truewraith qualifies on the longevity though. Presumably they have access and just haven't noticed.
