Hi

Considering a Tablet and to help me decide I would want it to be able to do as many of these things as possible.

1. Play video from an external HDD plugged into it
2. Play video from the Tablet to a TV plugged into it
3.Is it possible for my HTC One X to "tether" the Tablet to save me looking at one with 3G?
4. Plug an external keyboard into the tablet or use a Bluetooth one

I would also like:
5. Above average display as a minimum better than an iPad version1!!
6. Good selection of apps therefore android??
7. Strong wi-fi

All advice appreciated

i would say one with windows 8 on yes, android i have myself, but not great on all above, then again it also depends on version i guess, android based ones tend to be wusiwug= what you see is what you get, so addon's tend to be well, hard to find, and when you buy it another one comes out same week different spec, good mod group and app based, but doesn't talk to windows too well.

ipad well too over priced and all apps need to be er well bought unlike android where a lot is free.

windows, same again, your already using it, easy to get the same programs your using now and has that already know what it is feel, so no learning curve like having to flash a custom rom on android etc.

plus all device that work on pc will work on win 8 tablets etc with right connections that is.

but to name any, well there's a few out there, none tend to be as cheap as android ones, but about the same price as apple stuff but if your not a apple fanboy better to stay away from pretty toys and get something that can be used.

so win 8 tablet for me, which one, well there too many for me to pick and tbh i've not used or had any, but some great reviews online.

Yep it would do all of those, most Android tablets that are relatively recent would.
The only thing some might be missing is the ability to output to tv.

Thanks for all the advice.
Apart from the Windows based Tablets. Would the one below do the majority of what I have on my wish list? It has a lot of connectivity!

Wow....I would snap that up immediately. According to the first comment it "blows away Samsungs, iPads and Nexus tablets easily".

I have no experience of the tablet but I seriously doubt the claim of the first reviewer :-)

Specs look decent enough though.

Sounds like you want a Asus Transformer.

We've got a TF300 *in red* and it's superb. Has a 64gb microsd in it and a 64gb 64gb SD in the keyboard. With the right media players *PowerAMP for music and BS player for video - and the current build of XBMC for messing about with at the moment* it handles pretty much anything we've thrown at it.

1. Play video from an external HDD plugged into it
Check - USB port on the keyboard.
2. Play video from the Tablet to a TV plugged into it
Check - MicroHDMI on the tablet
3.Is it possible for my HTC One X to "tether" the Tablet to save me looking at one with 3G?
Check - Done this recently with my Galaxy SII
4. Plug an external keyboard into the tablet or use a Bluetooth one
Comes with one - also acts as a secondary battery. Plug it in and it charges the tablet from it's battery.
5. Above average display as a minimum better than an iPad version1!!
1280x800 - it's not as good as some tablet, but on a 10" screen it's fine.
6. Good selection of apps therefore android??
Google Play store
7. Strong wi-fi
TF300 has better wifi and gps performance than the Transformer Prime - mainly due to the plastic construction in the TF300.

The newer Transformer Pad Infinity has a 1920x1200 screen and the normal spec bump with a newer model.
