just wondering if there is such a thing as a ducted or turbine cooler for a cpu?

if there was something that worked on the same principle as a jet engine so to speak, taking a series of fans that are smaller and more packed through a tube to provide a more powerful ducted airflow/jet?

i have seen one that was similar in design however it only had a single fan inside which was a dissapointment. i wouldnt be worried about noise simply because my system is in an duscted isolation cabinet.

this is the one i saw from thermaltake its called the rotation.

What you're describing is the "opposite" of a turbine: a compressor. A jet engine contains a compressor and a turbine with some serious combustion in between. It isn't exactly the best option for cooling a CPU...

The image appears to show a centrifugal "blower" fan. In my opinion these aren't great for low noise cooling, but they do offer relatively high airflow.

If you don't care much about noise, just get a standard tower cooler and stick a couple of high speed Delta fans on it. But don't say you weren't warned about the noise level...;)

edit: you shouldn't hotlink images, sites are liable to replace them with unsavoury images if they detect hotlinking...

Just buy a GTX 480 and manually set the fan speed to 100% - if nothing else, you'll certainly get the "sound" of a turbine from the Delta fan on it :p
