I am about to build myself a new machine but after 5 years of using steam my stem folder is rather large, around 80 to 90 games. Is there a way which I can transfer this to my new machine without having to DL every single game again ?

I was thinking maybe I could put the old HD into a caddy of sorts and connect it to the new machine then copy the old stem folder over to the new HDD in the new machine ? But then I thugh this might not work as the games might not have the correct registry entries on my new machine ?

I find it quicker to just copy the steam folder in program files to a backup drive and paste it back after reinstalling.

Correct , use a USB caddy with your olde HD in it copy our entire steam
folder to new PC , only thing you have to do then is enter your login details
and you are done.

Steam is portable , that about the only good thing I can say about it
