Is there a way to allocate how much CPU aperture can use... So that some CPU speed is left to do something else.. Like sometime Aperture at the moment when building thumbnails or the like after I have imported Photos from my camera it use FULL WHACK CPU so wonder if I can tell it how much to use???

I'm no expert but i would assume the CPU manages that kind of thing itself. If your using full CPU on aperture and load another program, its going to throttle back on its aperture processes to apply some more to whatever you just opened.

But that doesnt really answer your question :P

yer trust me it does a way better job of managing it resources way better than you could ever manually.

sounds like you are needing something quicker/ more ram/ a dedicated machine.

Sound like I do need something quicker... At the moment i have a MBP 2.16 with 3gig of ram...

Hmm wonder what machine to upgrade to then if that is needed.. High end imac?

Depends what you are going to be doing on it?

If you need serious amounts of power then you will need a Mac Pro. If no the iMac will be perfect.
