Is there a way to force shutdown to ignore open programs?

A lot of the time when I go to shutdown my macbook, I have open tabs, torrents transferring etc. I forget about these, try to shutdown and then have to deal with messages asking me if I want to close tabs, end transfers etc.

Now I know it's possible to turn off by holding the power button down, but I assume this isn't exactly a 'clean' shutdown - i.e. it doesn't allow the system to do whatever it does when it shuts down normally.

So is there a way to force the mac to close my programs without asking me and just shutdown? Like a key to hold down whilst clicking on shutdown?

Cheers,
Felix

Thanks, that's useful but overall probably more hassle than just quitting the programs! Thought there might be an easy shortcut but nevermind.

ctrl + alt + cmd + eject (on desktops)

ctrl + alt + cmd + power (on notebooks)
