Is there an easy way to get a x1950 running...

No idea,

I really do need someone to post an idiots, step by step detailed explainations, ideally with screenshots. I've not been able to work out how to do it with the aid of various tools and stickies here, or elsewehere.

I still havent worked out how to clock both the master and slave cards in my crossfire setup, I must be losing it as I get older.

Nope, it is NOT possible.

You HAVE to download either ATi Tool or ATi Tray Tools, the services MUST be disabled.

The best way is to use the latest ATi Tool Trays Beta which is HERE:
http://atitray.fangel.ru/tmp/attsetup.exe

and the overclock using DRIVER LEVEL.

However, im not sure if this works on X1950XTX cards but you can try.

If it doesn't you need to install ATi Tool. However, this has the video bug so any videos that you play will reset the clocks and corrupt a workunit.

MGP, I really can't see how your struggling. I mean I worked it out without a guide. All you need is the link above if your on a X1900.

Tis easy.

Just rememeber: INCREASING CLOCKS you need to START with VOLTAGES, then FAN, then set your CLOCKS. V.F.C. ;)

DECREASING CLOCKS: Start with CLOCKS, then FAN, then VOLTAGES. C.F.V.

Seriously, a 10 year old could do it...

I have an X1950XTX and I'm using ATI Tools v0.24 Beta 15 or something like that. I've read there's a Beta 16 on the street that I belive will sort the voltage and memory clocks properly. I'm presently at ~ 710/1098 or there about. I had problems with ATI Tray so I moved back to ATI Tools.

I also removed the ATI Drivers and CCC then did a custom install without adding in CCC.
