Is there an easy way to separate apps for devices?

I have an iPad and now an iPhone as well.

I don't necessarily want all of the apps on both devices. When you sync you can look at the apps tab and untick what you don't want but am I missing an easier way to do this?

I'm surprised there isn't an equivalent to an app playlist where you can drag what you want in to a list for each device and then just sync that one folder. I don't think I've missed it anywhere and it seems a rare oversight from Apple.

Yeah I know that but it's a pain. If you forget you end up with a load of apps added you didn't want and have to go through, untick them and resync again. It would be easier to make something like a playlist and just sync that.

But you have to do it for each device each time you download a new app. Some apps are designed for both but you might not want them on both. The iPad can run iPhone apps as well but you might not want the iphone specific ones on the iPad. It's just not a very easy system to pick and choose what you want on what device cos if you download a new app for one, when you plug in the other, you have to stop the sync, go back to the app list, scroll through until you find it and then untick it and re-sync. Surely a playlist type option is a simpler system. If you add it to that devices app playlist then it'll sync it.
