Is there an overarching way of choosing audio streams for individual programs?

First of all, my first topic/post! If this is in the wrong area, apologies.

I've asked on a couple of forums, but got no answers, so I thought I'd check here.

With some programs (a few games, Ventrilo etc.), you can choose which audio device you want to output to (if there's multiple options) - headphones, HDMI audio, speakers etc. However, some programs lack this - most noticably, iTunes.

Without going all out and disabling the primary output source (in my case, audio through my TV via HDMI), is there an option hiddin in the depths of Windows 7 somewhere, that let's me tell individual .exe's/processes "Right, you send your audio through this device, not that one"?
