i've just done a fresh install of vista 64 and for some reason there's certain folders i can't delete or rename etc. I've tried looking in the security properties of the drive but i can't seem to figure it out. Any ideas?

First question is which folders?
There are some folders Windows doesn't like you deleting, mostly system etc.
Other than that, Pocket Killbox still works in 64-bit AFAIK :)

thanks! that worked with regards to deleting the unwanted folders but i still can't rename folders on a certain drive. Any ideas? It's telling me i need permission to perform the action but as far as i can tell i have set all the correct permissions etc! It's nothing system related.

I have this problem all the time it's such an annoyance.

I never used to have it in XP, just vista. If you've got the same problem as me then changing the folder permissions just doesn't work. Unlocker doesn't run in Vista 64 so cheers for the suggestion of pocket killbox.

You could try:

1. Take Ownership of the folder. Right Click Properties > Permissions > Advanced > Take Ownership

2. Use a Linux Live CD (I recommend slax) and navigate to the folder and delete inside of Linux

are you logged in as the Administrator? because I've noticed that having a user account with admin privileges doesnt seem to be the same as using the actual Administrator account in terms of permissions and access to things
