Good afternoon all Linux-ers! :D

You all might remember my threads of linux frustration that I have posted in the past. I'd got sick of windows and said 'up yours' to microsoft.

This time, however, I'm trying to make a choice for my own personal benefit. I'm not angry with microsoft. My Vista lappy and XP desktop are doing me just fine. However, I secretly yern for the gentoo geek factor.

Is there any reason why I should or should not download the latest snapshot and dual boot? Bearing in mind I use my laptop for coding, image creation/manipulation, internet, email and MSN and my pc for scanning/printing, gaming and updating ye olde ipod?

Cheers,

Gentoo would most likely put you off and does nothing for its user-friendly image... I suggest you try Ubuntu first.
Maybe I should have been a little bit more specific  I've used linux before. Fedora 4, Gentoo, Kubuntu, Ubuntu Server and Debian 4. So I've got a pretty good idea of how linux works ;)
My question was not 'whats the best linux distro for me' but 'is it worth me leaving an O/S that works for an O/S that may present some challenges but will be fun'

Ubuntu Ultimate?

Just wondering if anyone was using Ubuntu Ultimate?

Found it by chance while trying to find out if Fluxbox worked with Beryl (sadly, it doesn't :().

That there is a link to the 'Gamers Edition' and has a load of pre-configured components (like beryl and ipod support :D). Seems as though the creator has tried to include as many packages as possible to make the transition from windows even easier. Of course, all this adds up to an ISO of 3.8GB

Personally, I think I'll stick with Gentoo and just include the packages that I need :)
