Hi guys,
Just though I'd ask if there is much point in Oc'ing my system. The reason I ask is that I'm not sure if I'll see any actual benefit i.e. Will I notice any difference in speed etc or will it just be provable by looking at generate reports.

Here are my lame ass specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33GHz
2 Mb Ram
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
ATI Radeon 2400HD

I'm not sure if you need any extra info but please let me know if you need anything more.

Thanks,
Spitzoid

Well obviously it depends what you use it for as to whether you see any tangible benefits. With that graphics card i'm guessing it's not a gaming machine.

No, it's not a gaming machine specifically, although I do play games on it - obviously most on limited settings. I was more interested in if I will see an improvement in say; system start-up, programme start-up etc? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you mean 2gb of ram right? not 2mb

Yes he obviously meant that considering the rest of the specs, but thanks for the post, it's always nice to have someone pointing out the bleeding obvious.

Many people have lots of unwanted programs start up when they boot their PC, this will increase the start up time. Its worth having a look in Task Manager after boot up to see what is running and then you can decide on what needs to automatically start with Windows and what doesnt.

Your best bet is to forget about messing around with Task Manager and do a fresh install of Windows every so often (making sure you back up everything you want to keep). Windows is generally a pile of old pants and over the course of time no matter how careful you are the registry gets full of unwanted rubbish. Registry cleaners are okay (Crap Cleaner being the best free one) but you can't beat a fresh install imo, I tend to do one once per year. :D

lol, love the siggy platinum87 :D
