...As title really. Only the one I have been looking at says "not for sale" on the silver bezel along with a phone number. Thankyou.

You what???

The Torch is already available for sale....has been since late last year:confused:....so why u would want to buy a pre-release is beyond me, not only that the pre-release ones have been blocked....usually they are sent back to BB....if they arent then they are blocked as far as i know....so personally i wouldnt touch one with a bargepole....better off getting torch thats legit....if ur thinking of buying it because its cheap, trust me it aint worth it

Well it was an impulse buy at a very good price, having just grabbed the bull by its horns. Also got it with a 12month warranty, sim free and unblocked, so in my case I suppose it was worth it as everything is hunky dory-as they say ;) I'd never come across anything like this before-and so, was just curious about having done the right thing.

It could well be a test sample running old hardware and firmware.
If it is, you are potentially in for a rough ride with lockups, poor performance etc.

Oh well if it works and u can use the bb data plan then i guess ur one of the lucky ones as pre release bb's are buggy and not final retail versions.

yeah absolutely no problem with it at all. Quite chuffed. It cost me half the price you would expect to pay brand new and sim free. Also purchased legitimately from a mobile phone shop which has been trading for quite a number of years. Just simply put my blackberry sim in it.

I ment legitimately on my part. I couldn't even see the not for sale on the bezel prior to purchase; the writing is that small. I don't know where the actual law stands regarding this though. Incidently I am due for an upgrade in October so I might get another.

What shop was it?

All I will say is it is local in stoke-on-trent. I don't want people getting in touch and giving the guy some hassall, as providing the name could do just that. TBH I don't see why it matters and in any event it could eventually be traced back to me should anything go wrong with the phone with myself needing a repair under the warranty.:)

So its not an actual main high street phone shop like Phones4U or The Carphone Warehouse. Sounds like you've got it from a pawn shop to me :p

It's in the Main City centre Area-spitting distance from those you mention. So its not a corner shop or a pawn shop.
Crikey! Phones4U will agree to ring your network up and tell them you have just lost your job and cannot afford to pay for your contract if you will agree to have another from them instead.

Test handsets can sometimes be upgraded / have shipping firmware on them for pre-release checks but by and large they have hilarious bugs in them or a UI without optimisation for example. If it works, consider yourself lucky I guess.
