Is there any special requirements of a PSU for dual core?

Hi.

Do I need to make sure there is a special power connector?
I'm sure I've read on a couple of specs of PSU's that there is an 8 pin cable for dual core setups. Is this right? Or will any PSU work so long as it has enough juice?

I think you mean dual CPU entry-level server/workstation not duel core cpus and yes any PSU as long as its a good brand :)

I was running my 430W S12 (cheers Benjo ;)) on my 3500 rig, then when I upgraded to a 3800X2 I just kept the same PSU plugged in etc, same motherboard (which is what the PSU plugs into). So why you'd need a different type of connecter for dual core is beyond me. I mean, I don't know of it. I'm not saying it's not impossible..

Meh, blabble post. Hopefully it will be of some use to you.

Most dual CPU motherboards are server boards which have an 8pin connector instead of the usual 4 pin P4 connector, I think thats where the confusion is coming from.

Dual core CPUs run in normal desktop boards so only require a standard PSU.
