Is there any standby mode that allows things to continue to download?

Hello,
I was wondering if in Vista Home x64 there is a stand-by mode that allows downloading to continue (ie. BitTorrent and Firefox downloads). I'm guessing no?

Dont think it's possible since your hdd powers down and cpu activity is minimal during standby, only thing that standby rly does is keep your ram powered so you don't have to reload everything on the next start and monitor your mouse/kb for activation.

Wouldn't have thought so. The closest might be if you have AMD Cool and Quiet installed so that the processor speed drops and thus power consumption and heat exhausted. :)

You may be able to if you have an Asus motherboard with the AINap feature:

"Minimize noise and power consumption when temporarily away
With AI Nap, users can instantly snooze your PC without terminating the tasks. System will continue operating at minimum power and noise when user is temporarily away. It keeps downloading files or running applications in quietest state while you´re sleeping. Simply click keyboard or mouse, you can swiftly wake up the system in few seconds."

Not sure if other brands have anything equivalent.

Interesting. Bet the OP doesn't have an Asus board or has one but not with the AINap feature. :D
