Is there any way of telling weather a CPU will be a good overclocker?

There are lots of digits on a the top of a CPU.

I was just thinking; if I had the opportunity to see a load of 3570k's or 3770k's on a shop shelf, would there be anyway of telling by the serial number on the CPU if it was a good clocker? (Like a date or batch number?)

E: Ignore silly typo in thread title

Some batches do clock better than others yes. 3770K look for week 18 or week 30 Costa CPU. 3570 I am not sure about as I only buy 3770. For benches that don't need HT I just disable it.

From my experience the best 3570 I had was the engineering sample.

Hi 8 pack,

Any chance you could sort me out a week 18 or 30 3770K - would be very grateful as I can only afford to purchase once. Hope you can help.

No mate I cant I only have three of these CPU left myself and they are assigned for benching and 8 Pack systems.

Others have asked me this and I have said no.

I would like to help but I dont have the volume to do so when I need these parts.

After this its about testing CPU mate sadly. The odd one from other batches is just as good or even better but this is pot luck.
