Is there any way to backup my Firefox User/Passwords?

I'm undergoing a format and I'm just wondering if could back up my passwords?

I've lost track of some of my passwords and FF has them stored.

There's an idea

Is there a method where I could possibly copy a file across or something to export it then import it?

I just backup my firefox profile, located in;

Documents and Settings/*Name*/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/*

When a firefox install went wrong once, i just uninstalled it, reinstalled it again and copied the profile across. Voila

Doesn't that usually somewhat corrupt due to uninstalled extensions and so forth?
