Just curious really, as one forum i'm on has posts dating back donkey's years and i wanna know just how wasteful it is! tried googling but didn't come up with anything useful.

Since the pages are dynamically generated the only way to know how 'big' a forum is would be to look at the database, which only the administrator(s) can do. I don't see why it's wasteful, unless its a really huge forum it won't be taking up much disk space.

lol, yeah i meant file size!

it's pretty big, it's just really cos the owner's saying it costs lots to run and so has introduced a subscription fee. I was just gonna make a nuisance of myself and say well if you deleted all this old crap that's taking up xxxGB it might be a bit cheaper!

The primary cost will be bandwidth rather than storage space. So the fact that the old posts are there won't really make any difference

hmmm, yeah i guess so, can't see it using a lot of bandwidth though, it's tiny compared to OCUK (it's not a competitor before anyone questions my loyalty :D) so can't see why it would cost a lot to run. oh well, i trust the guy and it's worth the fee.
