Is there anyone here with a Vive who only uses glasses for reading and/or using a pc screen?

If so can you confirm whether or not you need to wear those glasses in the Vive or do the Vive lenses focus/present the image at a distance?

The wife has bought me a Vive, and I thought I would order some 'vr lenses' to save having to wear my glasses. However, a few comments on the web are making me think I may not need my glasses at all to use the Vive.

Unfortunately I can't test myself until I get back home on Saturday, but the sooner I order the lenses the quicker they'll arrive, should I require them

I don't wear glasses for reading (I'm short sighted rather than long) but things are presented at a distance.
The steam store screen for instance, would be the equivalent of 2 metres away. Supersampling helps the text appear clearer too.

Try it without the glasses first would be my advice.

I'm also short sighted and can only properly focus on stuff up to ~30cm away. Despite the proximity of the Vive's screens to my eyes, I can't see **** in VR without glasses or contacts.

As far as I'm aware the focal distance is something like 1.2-1.3m. If you're ok with things at that distance I reckon you'll be ok with the Vive.

I wear glases for reading and PC work. I thought I would need to wear them with my vive but I do not. This may change in the future as I get older but for now I am good without them in the vive.

I absolutely need to wear mine in order to see but then I do have quite a high prescription. However I did order a pair of lenses from VR Lens lab and I no longer need to wear my glasses which makes the VR experience considerably better especially for longer sessions.

Sphere (SPH) Cylinder (CYL) Axis
Right Eye +6.50 -3.75 175
Left Eye +5.75 -2.75 174

VR Lens lab max at +6 (my right eye is my strongest) but that drop of 0.5 hasn't given me any eye strain as yet. Very happy with the purchase.

Well, I don't need my glasses and this thing is absolutely fantastic. Gaming will never be the same again.

Yes the visuals could be better, but it simply doesn't matter one bit, and immersion is off the scale.

I've just finished an hour long session on Bullet Sorrow, and mowing down waves of dumb AI with a heavy machine gun never felt this good before.

Awesome!

Very happy with the purchase.
I got some lenses from VR Lens Lab, but I must say I'm disappointed with them - there's too much barrel distortion, with things like the Steam menu warping away from you at the edges. Maybe it works better for farsightedness? (I'm -3.25 in each eye)

Have another pair of lenses on the way from a German company which hopefully should be a lot better since they don't mount the lenses inverted. Plus they're quite a bit cheaper than VRLL...

No I got this as well; it was really disconcerting and likewise I initially thought what a waste of doe BUT after several hours I discovered my focus and head movements ensured my eye-line was always looking in the focal sweet spot,
