Is there better than Compro T200?

Hi guys,

I've been using the TV card Compro T200 for sometime now. When you have a good signal it works great but that's about it.

I've noticed that it uses it's own codecs. So if I record a show, I can only view it if compro software has been installed on the client's TV. Also it doesn't work well, if at all with lan streaming software such as media encoder.

I'm thinking about changing cards, but don't have a clue what the current range is saying. I noticed that the compro is still there etc. I'm wondering will I have more luck with a different card? Has anyone else been in my situation?

Regards,
King :)

Nebular DigiTV or something is meant to be the "king" so to speak, but it costs a load.

Yes, practically anything is better than the T200.

I'm now running a Leadtek DTV1000-T and it's flawless. Bundled software is surprisingly good and it works absolutely fine with MCE (Which is what I use most of the time)

There are lots around now (DVB/TV cards) I do not have the knowledge to advise on which. I use Hauppage HVR1300. It is a hybrid analogue/digital card with built in hardware Mpeg. So recordings are awesome and are saved in a format that is easily viewable on any PC with DVD/Mpeg2 codecs. It has an excellent pause function for live TV. Software is OK and there are plenty 3rd party DVB stream viewers that can be used.

There are dual tuner types that allow recording of one channel whilst you watch another.

Could it be the software! My hardware supports functions that the provided software cannot handle such as Pay TV decryption and smart card support. Could it be the case that the TV is fine and the software sucks?

Try and check out the forums for your card and see if other owners have had similar problems and how they may have resolved them. You may find that all you need to do is use different software.

There are so many cards around for TV I really could not recommend any one over any of the others.

I'm looking for something which runs flawless. I now have a freeview aerial (house aerial) hooked up to my comrpo. The signal is full but the software is a bit buggy.

I would also something which is compatable with progs like windows encoder. Also perhaps which records in a generic codec?

The leadtek do look good, but I need someone who been here before to recommend me :(
