A friend of mine has an old STS PC which while old and slow does all he needs. The only problem is that it has, wait for it, 256MB memory and he's running XP + SP2...

Guess what; the PC runs pretty slow and I'm sure swapping the memory for a couple of cheap 512MB sticks will make a pretty significant improvement. The only thing is I'm struggling to identify the EXACT memory I could use in his motherboard. The PC details are;

ECS K7VTA3 Motherboard
Memory is described as;

462pin Socket A supports AMD® K7 processors
Full series of Athlon XP / Athlon / Duron processors
Chipset
VIA KT266A VT8366A + VT8233Form factor

Expansion
5 PCI - 0 ISA - 1 CNR - 1 AGP - 6 USB

Memory
3X 184-pin DIMM 3Gb DDR SDRAM PC1600 - PC2100

FSB
100MHz, 120MHz, 133MHz 140MHz, and 150MHz
Vcore adj.

Can someone please point me at some OCUK memory tha would help here - I don't want to buy something that won't work, and the FSB spec isn't helping me here....

Thanks VERY much to all...

There's not much plain DDR about these days but these should be fine. Don't worry about them being rated as PC3200, they should happily run at the lower PC2100 speed that the mobo is looking for.

There are 3 memory slots on the motherboard - does it matter in this case which slots the 2 new memory boards go into? Normally with 4 slots I think it does matter?

Thanks for all the help...
