Is There Really A Big Difference Between a Opty 175 and 4400+?

Hi guys i have managed to source a good uk site that has opty's instock both single and dual core :P, and after seeing some results of people clocking the 4400+ to anywhere between 2.7-2.9ghz i was wandering is there really a big difference between the two? or is it too early to tell?

From what I have seen The Opty 165 and 170 are clocking very well with the latest steppings. They 175 does not seem to be worth the extra money. I received an Opty 165 yesterday and and currently stable a 2.7Ghz and I still have not found the max clock yet. The only bonus of having a 170 is the 10x multiplier and the 175 11x multiplier. I all depends on how high you can get the HTT on your motherboard.

hmm true but prices i have seen is that i can get a opty 165 for £275inc vat / a opty 170 for £349.95inc vat / a 3800+ for £229.95 / a 4400+ for £349.95
so which would you say is the best deal? what temps have you got on your opty?

The prices seem to have slowly increaded on the optys in the last couple of days. I have just seen an Opty 170 in stock for £307.63inc.VAT + £15 delivery. I am not really sure how good the 4400+ is clocking at the moment but I dont think you can go wrong with with either of them.

My load temps while priming both cores at 2.7Ghz is about 45 degrees at 1.5V. I'm on watercooling but only have a single 120mm radiator which seems to be struggling to disipate all of the heat generated by these processors. From what I have seen the stock heatsink that comes with my Opty is a 4 heat pipe cooler and the reviews show it to be very good. The one that comes with the 4400+ is on a 2 Heat pipe and not so good.

hmmz what rad have you got in your wc rig? i'm going to go wc soon with a thermochill pa.160 and panaflo m1 fan fitted to it! looks like i could be spending on a dual core opty 165 or 170 then hmm now which do i go for? : confused :

The opty's 170 has 10x multiplier which is very helpful if your motherboard wont do high HTT speeds. I have to run 300mhz HTT to get 2.7ghz on my DFI board as I only have a 9x multiplier to play with.

I have a Black Ice Pro 120 mm Radiator which came with my asetek watercooling kit about 2 years ago. I have upgraded my pump to a Hydor L30, my CPU cooler to a Swiftek Apogee and I have added an Asetek GPU cooler for the graphics card. I think it is about time I got a new radiator. I'm not sure which one to get but it will need to be a dual 120mm one.
