As the title says, I cant seem to find any good 800-1000w PSU's in stock at OCUK (it seems to be a UK wide issue)

OCUK seems to have just "out of stock" or ETA's in 2021 (end of Jan or later)

Any ideas ?

Clearly yes. The release of the new AMD & NVidia graphics cards, both recommending a 750W+ power supply along with shipping and manufacturing delays, also combining many people looking to build a new PC during lockdown to keep themselves busy has meant a huge shortage. It used to be a 550W PSU was sufficient for 90% of builds. Now I’d say a 650W is the minimum and for a top end gaming PC it’s 850W+ as you’ve found. There is some stock out there if you know where to look but I feel some of it is either from a lower tier brand or overpriced.

Fair point, yeah iv seen a few over priced units about (by about £50)

Unfortunately it does seem like my old 750W leadex gold it a bit prone to the transient loads on the XFX 6800XT Merc, so am on the look out for a corsair / seasonic / be quiet 1000W unit. Here is hoping supply improves in the new year.

Originally the shortages were down to Covid and worldwide shutdowns but Nvidia then released their new gpu's that eat up stupid amounts of power meaning that the average pc now needs more powerful psu's (as Misschief already stated) and has made the situation worse.

I'm looking to upgrade my XFX 750W unit, not due to lack of power, but the awful fan curve it has. Play any decent game, and it turns into a hairdryer...

I'm looking for something around 1000W to cover eventual upgrades (in for a penny, in for a pound) but a) there aren't any and b) HOW MUCH???
The step-up in price from ~850 to ~1000W is crazy.

I’ve got a Seasonic 1000W supply in transit from a recent batch on a competitors site, they are all out of stock on preorder for April now.....

It was posted to a UPS access point and had a failed delivery, returned to sender..... it turns out the access point hasn’t been an access point for at least 6 months....

Spoke to the suppliers customer services when I found this out and they have promised to post out by a different courier to my home address when they receive it back, just getting the feeling though that this message will not make its way to the store staff and it’ll just get restocked.

Uhm amd gpu also eats stupid power

almost all graphics card released by either company in the last 6 months use over 300w

even trying to get a 750w seasonic was a pain i did manage to get one though from a competitor after a cancelled order from a different competitor and noticed its jumped from £110 (what i paid) to £150 which is just bonkers.

I did say that the new cards eat stupid amounts of power (but only named nvidia). What should be happening is that components should be getting more efficient but instead they are becoming even more power hungry. It's ridiculous.

Aye. PSU's are out of stock largely everywhere. Even mid range power delivery ones.

Thankfully I had my eye on the TX700 (Fanless) by Seasonic, and it also came in at an offer too over Black Friday. Had to go competitor (OCUK don't stock it entirely), but I would say it was worth it. Was £250, offer was £200 + shipping. And I'm not likely to update to an overpowered card either, running a RX580 8GB, so any upgrade would be a RTX3080 or the RX6800 XT at very most (and not at current prices either), so should be within the budget of the PSUs power delivery.

But yeah, you really need to pounce on offers and stock when you can at this time if you're in a desperate need to get something. No time to dawdle.

I’m still trying to get my hands on the above.
Daily calls with customer services resulting in zero progress despite being able to confirm the employee name, time and date of who took delivery. Keeping it up though til alternatives are restocked then hit them with a 1* review.
Incompetence seems especially common wherever you look these days.

There's been a steady dry up of psus since the start of 2020.
Everything else that's happened has basically sped it up.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's more PCs now worldwide then there have ever been.
Even watercooling stocks are vanishing, that's crazy

Covid lockdown
lack of distribution and slowness of manufacturing
much higher demand

Hence very hard to find a decent 1000watt+ PSU

unless u spend scalp money, yes High end PSUs now being scalped...
