Is There Something I Can Put Under Carpet/Rug For Heat?

Recently put my heated blanket on my computer chair and yeah it looks ugly but man is it 10x better than a crappy oil rad which takes at least 4x as long to heat the room as my PC whilst gaming!

Not only that but max 70w of power taken vs 1500w for the oil rad.

Thought came to my head of putting an electric blanket under the rug and have it heat the room. Anyone know of this method maybe there are purpose built heated mats for this?

Yeah, I think they call it underfloor heating.

It's not magic - to heat a room you'd still need to put in the same amount of energy that is needed by an oil filled radiator.

The benefit of an electric blanket is that it uses less heat as it's providing localised heating

I don't believe this... because the PC takes less energy (3090 RTX) than the oil rad and heats the whole room. The reason is... fans. It blows the heat up out the top while the oil rad keeps it all in one space.

Whether you believe it or not, it's simply not possible. Electric heaters and GPUs are both 100% efficient at turning electrical energy into heat. 500W electric in = 500W heat out

It may feel warmer as you've alluded to because of the airflow directing that heat. (In the same way that electric fan heaters feel warmer when stood in front of them)

You can achieve the same with an oil rad by attaching some form of fan to it, but you're not gaining any extra heat, just distributing it differently.

You can buy electrically heated clothing. I've not tried it, but I'd be interested to know how effective it is from anyone who has. E.g.

Other cost efficient measures:
- Wear some long johns.
- Use a layer system of clothing.
- Wear your coat indoors.
