Is there something wrong with my Asus X99-S...?

It will occasionally not boot properly, simply restarting again. On other occasions I've had to hit the power button again. Also, and more bizarrely, it will tell me "overclocking has failed" when there is no overclock!! I did have it on the auto overclock, which seemed stable, but that failed (with same message), but twice now it has given me the same message after it's been reset to stock! This doesn't happen all the time, it seems random. Is my board faulty?

if it never fails after post, but does fail (sometimes) during post and you have reset board to defaults....it sounds like the sort of thing you should email asus about...
if you tell them all your memory, cpu, gpu and add in card info ...they may well be able to advise.

in mean time, reseat components, remove any unnecessary add in cards, replace any spare hardware with known good, to see if you can isolate it to the one of the bits plugged into the board.

at the very least asus should be able to narrow down the potential causes of the error message they programmed.,,so you know what and what not to consider...probably board, cpu or memory.

the downside of BYO is that most dont have enough spare parts to chase down such issues....i wonder wether OCUK would rent you some old equipment to help? might be worth asking..
