im looking for mass media storage, about 3tb, id like something that is hotswappable, but is there such a thing as wifi mass storage??

or does it have to be via usb/firewire?

Im not sure about storage devices that have wifi built it, but what you could do is get a NAS enclosure, use an ethernet cable to hook it up to a wifi router and then any devices on the wired network connected to the same router will be able to access at high speed, and with a wireless router, it will be accessible from a wireless computer too.

not exactly transferring all 3tb at once lol, just means i could trnsfer a film file anywhere in the house rather than having to hook up all the time.

have recently added a 54g network to my setup and have found that a usb2 hd works fine to stream film media around the house (dvd rips) id assume this would work fine for you.

quick google tells me that hi def uses 15-20 Mbps per sec so assuming your wirless network is stable this would work as well tho as ive only streamed to an older pc and 2 low powered laptops that arnt capable of smooth hi def playback i can only hope that it would work smoothly

6.75mb/s

54 divide by 8..

Plus, some routers split the connection, so if there's two wireless machines, they'll be getting 27 each max (or dividing it unfairly on demand), wireless really is crap for data transfer

i'm able to play a 720p 1.1gb, 40 minute file fine over the wireless section of my network mind, it is mkv though, but it works out an average of about 500kb/s

i'd hookup with gigabit where you can, and only wireless if you have to
