I currently have my computer next to a built in wardrobe which has a spare hatch leading to the loft, now would it be a crazy idea if i was to get some tubbing like they have on tuble dryers some how attach it to the fans on my computer and put that into the loft so all the hot air goes up there?

OR

Attach the tubbing to the front so cold air get sucked down or would that be too dusty..

OR

Am i talking crazy talk here?

The pipe will be too long. Furthermore to do this effectively you needs fans that'll push air pretty fast and a few of them acting in the tubes as air repeaters if you will. More powerful fans + lots of tubes = Noise and mess

No you're not crazy, it's called ducting. It might be far too much hassle for the benefits you'll reap, but if you have some spare time etc then have a go.

:edit: although that is true about repeater fans.

If you are using Air to cool your system then the limiting factor is the ambient air temperature.
During the evening at the moment my CPU idles at 34C, if im at home during the day when the central heating is off then it idles at 32C.
Iff you can feed the CPU cooler with cooler air then your CPU temps will drop, depending how long the ducting will be will have an effect on how cool the air is by the time it reaches the CPU.

Also in the summer the loft becomes one of the hottest places. Get an inline bathroom fan they are very cheap then put this in the loft. Control it by a pull cord or switch in the wardrobe then just turn the fan round from intake to extract and see what is best

Stick a pipe out the window so ** gettin fresh air blowing into comp and then it be cooler, my mates gona try this soon I think. Like a pipe such as draining pipe or somit. You probably and he will too, have to get a fan gridle and somehow attatch it on end when its outside. To stop the crap getting in.

I did that once, dropped CPU temps nicely.

However, had quite a shock when i opened the case up a week later and found it full of dead flies :p

thats a sweet idea. you could stick the reservoir in a mini fridge , that would be sweet. OMG, best modding project ever, someone should mod a minifridge to become a cooled water reservoir

Wont work - if i had a quid for every time that was suggested.....

Every single person that has heard of water cooling thinks that. (including all of us)

A fridge is designed to take objects of a certain heat and cool them to a certain temp and keep them there, objects meaning carrots or eggs, it cant cope with things that actually output heat, its not designed to do that.

Admittedly, if you got an industrial chest freezer and a giant radiator then that might work but only for a certain length of time.

i have a pipe from a tumbple dryer going out my window with a filter on the end, keeps my oc'd 3.8ghz at around 9 degrees :)

Okay i've had a better thought.. now i came into a bit of money and was thinking

Water cooling my computer

BUT

put the rad (is that the right term?) into the massive cold watter tank, obv use 2 pumps in series so it has enough flow power..

Misses says no though and im sure she would notice that ammount of £ missing..
