Thoughts?

No make/model? Also do you know how old it is? The specs are decent. It's shadowmask rather than aperture grille, but shadowmask can still look very nice.

Still, nothing there tells you whether it'll have a good picture.

Cheers for the advice mate.

At 31kg it's a bit of a beast though.. will I need a REALLY strong desk to hold that on? I mean the current desk now is just a cheap one from PCWorld, will that hold it you think? I looked on the website and there was no maximum weight info..

Depends on how big the desk is. If it's got a big span between the two ends then obviously it's going to bend more and there's a greater chance of it collapsing. The smaller and more compact it is, the more strength it should have. My desk (from MFI, made of MDF not wood) is 150 cm wide. I did have a 35 kg monitor on it for about a week and it was bending a worrying amount (even with the support beam it has at the back) although I suspect it would have been ok. My current monitor is 23kg and that's fine.

I would guess it would be ok though in most cases, unless your desk is thin (the MDF in mine is 2.3 cm thick) and flimsy.
