I've been away from hardware / overclocking too long now and im starting to get back into it!

Got the CPU up to the above speeds stable :

However my RAM has took a small hit in speed to the following :

Should i try and get a 1:1 ratio? And if so whats the best way of doing it?

I Thought upping the FSB Increased the RAM Speed?

What motherboard and RAM do you have?

EDIT - never mind i see it lol.

You're using PC2-6400 ram, yes? It depends on the memory divider being used. You need to unlink the RAM from the FSB. Should be a setting in the bios somewhere. That will allow you to adjust the RAM speed manually, independently from the FSB.

Yeah its 2GB DDR2 800, Getting another 2GB next week.

Now you mention it, it is linked in the BIOS, ill mess around with it

Don't fill all 4 memory banks with RAM as it can make that overclock unstable. Get 2x2GB pc2-8500 if you can, otherwise stick to pc2-6400 2x2GB

All depends on what you can get at a decent price currently.

The last RAM i bought for my Q6600 machine was G.Skill ripJaw pc2-9600. that was good for 600MHz out of the box. I used to run 400x9 with a 2:3 FSB to RAM ratio.

It looks like you still got a bit of headroom with the 6400 ram you have currently if you do go too far drop the FSB ratio to the RAM to keep the RAM <= 400Mhz

edit: But yes, that is a good speed, i know a couple of peeps with Q6600 & high VID's that stuggle to get over 3.2GHz stable!
