Hey guys a quick one is this an ok overclock for an ati sapphire 5850?

MSI Afterburner Settings
Core Voltage: 1200
Core Clock: 850
Memory Clock: 1200

Any advice i would be greatfull as this is my first real overclock on a graphics card.

I think too much voltage, do you really need it to keep the stability?

I could get to 840 on stock voltage for reference asus 5850 at 1087v

Then at 1187 I could hit 950.

But then again I didn't know about OCCT error checker back then, the games were stable, furmark was stable, but I am not sure if there were or not errors.

But lucky ones can hit 1ghz on 1.25v.

Also keep the card cool, for instnace if the card stays below 70 you may need to use less volts to keep clocks stable.

Hmm when I was starting overclocking people would tell me to keep the card under 80c

Create a custom fan curve in msi afterburner to keep those temps down.

Also try to overclock clocks only without touching the memory, maybe it is causing the instability, with such high voltage you should get more on the clock

i can get to 850 when i go to 900 it resets?? lol but when i open a stressing program it bombs out after 3mins

** edit this is on stock voltage
