Is this a good combo.

As the title says.
I think it's time I made a hardware upgrade and have thought about an OC bundle but would like to keep the cost down a bit and still use some of my current hardware. I want to be able to get a reasonable OC as I like using MS FSX which is processor hungry as are a lot of the high end add ons and I think my current CPU is just not up to it so I have been thinking of this combination.

Actually having looked into a bit more detail it looks like the Z77 boards don't have any IDE connectors which kind of ruins my plans a bit as my main HDD is IDE.

Just buy a converter cable.

But seriously, you should save some more and buy a SSD

+1 getting rid of ide drive, just back up your data and then go for either an SSD or mechanical sata 3 drive.
