from an Audi dealer

£14000 is that any good it started at £14990 without the cd changer

Oh I was think of a 3.2 but this should hold its value much better and handle better and not be as costly on fuel but I can get a 3.2 for around £13000

Cheers

£14k doesnt seem expensive or cheap from an authorised Audi dealer for that spec.

As for the V6 3.2, It's a more powerful engine but I am not sure if it'll 'handle' better as its heavier than the 2.0T engine making the A3 quite nose heavy. The 2.0T has better tuning potential also if you are into that sort of thing but the 3.2 has a much nicer engine note.

Your call.

Edit: The 2.0T has better fuel consumption than the 3.2, not that other way round.

'Nose heavy' - Have you read that from a review or tried it? I ask because a lot of reviews say the same thing but they are usually copy and pasted from one website.

The 2.0T is more preferable than the 3.2 imo, the reasons are tax; about £200 less per year, only 0.5 seconds slower for the 0-60 which can be sorted via a remap and the fuel economy is better. The downsides are the immediate power delivery of the V6 over a turbo.

How far can you stretch your budget? Show the link here of the car, it seems a good price however is it the new grill/interior? You could get one for about £15k.

You mis-read him, he said "...I looked at the 3.2 but this [the 2.0t] should handle better <snip> better fuel economy..." :)

Sorry the way i wrote the last paragraph was confusing.

I think the 2.0t will hold its value better and handle better

I cant find any 3 door 2.0t any cheaper

Seems like a good price for a dealer one. I would take the 2.0 and if necessary remap it. 3.2 is a nice engine but then running costs are increased. End of the day, buy which ever will make you happy.

Personally, I think I'd go for the 3.2, but I realise why many would go for the 2.0T. The 2.0T has less weight over the front end, so turn in will be slightly sharper, and it will feel less nose heavy. The tuning potential is huge, for not much money you can have a car which is more powerful than the 3.2. It's also more economical. On the other hand, the 3.2 makes a lovely sound, is quicker than a stock 2.0T, and will probably put a bigger grin on your face.

I've tried it. It's nose heavy.

Thing is, what is meant by nose heavy? Are you saying when it comes to handling the quattro system fails against, for example; a 2.0T FWD, or that it is any slower?

What exactly is the bad side of the 'nose heavy' issue?

The 3.2 A3 is nose heavy theres no getting away from that, coupled with the fact that its the old 3.2l engine unlike the A4s newer 3.2l engine makes it a bad buy really. Its nothing to do with the quattro on the A3 which is pretty good, the 3.2 is a poor buy in A3 form.

The 3.2 is nose heavy compared to the 2.0t, with or without quattro, it's just more reluctant to change direction (and yes, I have driven one). It's also a lot less fuel efficent and falls into the 'bend over, no you can't have lube' tax bracket.

In terms of driving fun, I'd take the 2.0T over the 3.2 in everything bar noise, unless you want quattro and DSG, in which case you're kind of stuck.

That A3 in the OP looks like a good buy, certainly worth a properly look at the dealers.

I'd take the 2.0T FSI over a 3.2 N/A any day of the week

for a dealer price I'd say that is fair, although it could be bought a good bit cheaper privately. If you want the piece of mind of buying from a dealer then go for it (although the audi dealership up here wipe their hands with you as soon as they've got your money in their pocket, but that's not the case with all of them).

I cant find a 3 door 2.0 T any cheaper, prtivate or dealer, there are sportbacks but they are fugly
