Is this a good deal?

depends where you live, and how much you want a convertible roadster.

personally i'm not sure i'd pay that for one, but then neither would i have it as a primary car, mostly down to living in an area when the only time it aint raining its snowing.

Convertibles in the UK are awesome.
My previous MX5 had heated seats and a good heating system.
I had the top down in -4 just because its amazing to have the feel of the top down as much as possible. Wind in hair etc etc :D
In comparison I rented a convertible in Italy in the summer months. Had to put the top up most of the time as I was getting to burnt!

Now mine was a hardtop convertible which is easier than the fabric to get down in cold weather and wont cause damage to a "stiff" top.

With regards to the deal I have no idea but I would have a 2 seat convertible now if it wasn't for life factors getting in the way.

Basically if its not raining the top comes down - My Mx5 took 12 seconds to put the top up and my friends Boxter can do it while driving under 30mph so your not going to get caught out.

The heaters on most convertibles are much better than you get in "normal" cars. You can use them in any temperature if you crank it up :)

Rain is an issue though.

Not if you keep moving, i once drove though the sort of rain which made the road hard to see, not a drop in the interior or on me.

I used to love the funny looks the uneducated gave you in winter.

Or snow.

Snow was fun in your MX5.

The only thing I think I'd want in a convertible these days is an "air scarf". The TTS I had in October had one and it was fantastic.

Tbf its not that bad if you want an ND. I cant think of what else you could get for the same money that would be any better, some dull hatchback or something.

don't know what the mrk4 is like but the mrk3.5 wasn't great with the top down in the rain - 2.5 you'd be totally dry but the 3.5 would channel water diagonally up the side windows that would then spray into your right ear when driving :(

UK is actually one of the better countries for a convertible, weather may be slightly wetter but you don't get the crazy hot sun that means you can't drive with the top down for fear of sunstroke!

I wouldn't buy a new one. The MX-5 new is way overpriced now considering what else you can get for the money. 18k for the base model D:

Buy one 2-3 years old. Your unlikely to get any issues with them.

But that would be the older model. The new one is really great.
And I echo the sentiments of all-weather top-down motoring. I can count on my hand the number of times I drove the S2000 with the roof up. Top down all the time no matter what the weather.
