Hi

I am in two minds about whether to part exchange my car or try and get rid of it privately.

It's always been a difficult child, and now the air con seems to have stopped blowing cold, (the fan in the engine does not spin), and the brake disks are buggered (You can feel the brake pedal kicking back whenever you brake lightly). It also seems to leak, but heavy rain pending, I think this was caused by the monkeys that serviced it not putting the pollen filter together properly. It's a Seat Leon Cupra... a 51 Reg with electric leather interior. I have owned since 2004 and has 67,000 miles on it.

My mother is looking for a car and has been offered £2,500 for mine on a P/x. Looking around, I think they go for around 3-3.2K privately, but bearing in mind I will probably have a job shifting it with all the issues.... Would you just get shot of it on the cheap, or try and get it fixed up and go through the hassle of a private sale?

Thanks

Depends how much the few extra quid means to you and how much patience you have for private sales.

I would chop it in and be done with it.

For £500'ish difference, is it really worth the extra trouble of fixing your car (at extra expense) and advertising it hoping you will find a buy.
