I have a friend coming over from Japan very soon who is trying to get a PS3 for me. :)

I have seen this TV in OcUK this week only (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=AV-000-MR) and want to know if it's a good option.

I was wondering if this will give me true HD gaming as I think i read somewhere that the PS3 will support 1080p but not 720p or 1080i... anyone know if this is true or if I will have any issues running this console in the Uk (power etc)?

I know its region free for games but not for Blueray films, but to be honest im not too bothered about films just yet so I will probalby get myself a UK model next summer.

P.S. Please, do not give me your opinion on the PS3 or tell me to get an Xbox 360 instead... i know these type of threads usually turn into 'console wars' threads.

I think the only resolution fiasco was if your television didn't support 720p, the PS3 would downscale the picture to 480p rather than upscale it 1080i. This TV does support 720p so you should have no problems with that.

It has component and HDMI so you are set to go with the right cables.

Can't say about the quality of the screen as I've not come across this make before.

nothing wrong with that TV, its currently what i own for my 360, there's a massive thread over at AV forums in the LCD forum, all answers are in that thread, willt ake you a while to read though, lol

can I just ask you how solid the screen is, I mean is it one of the types with some kind of protective cover which feels harder to the touch than the flimsy soft ones?

I have a three year old daughter who loves to smear her mucky little hands all over our TV screen :( I have noticed whilst looking around in some shops that most screens now have a harder feel to them, but I need to be sure.

You could wall mount it high enough to be out of reach of your daughter little hands..

not an option im affraid due to lack of space and the fact that i recently spent £180 in ikea for a smart new TV stand

its screen is hard to the touch  - sounds rude, and i have monitor wipes to clean it although i've not need to yet as it doesn't attract the dust like a normal TV does and anyone that tries to touches the screen with their fingers gets shouted at, lol, they soon learn

Excellent - cheers :)

I went ahead and bought this TV and I must say I'm very pleased with it - very good picture quality.
