Hi,

Ok want to try and watercool the rig in my sig and after much searching and reading this is what i have:

Cpu Block - Swiftech Storm G4
GPU Block - DangerDen Maze4 Acetal Top ONLY (1/2") - inc ATI & nVidia Mounting Kits
Chipset Block - DangerDen Maze4 Chipset DFI Expert (1/2")
Reservoir - DangerDen Bay Reservoir - 5.25"
Radiator - ThermoChill PA120.2
Pump - Danger Den DD12V-D5 (1/2")
Tubing - 1/2" ID Tygon R3603 Tubing
Water Additive - Not sure on this which is best?
Water Dye - Not sure on this either just want it to be blue

Now the only thing i need to check with you guys is the Chipset Block, I thought it would be a good idea as the dfi fan is quite loud, but am worried that the graphics card is gonna be in the way so won't be able to fit a block. Is the block I have chosen a good one?

Also could someone explain if i need a reservoir and what they actually do??

Is there anything I have missed or that needs changing?

Thanks

dude thats not a GPU block, as said its only the Placcy top, you need to buy a proper block

otherwise a nice setup, Ive got v similar, and it r0x

-ed and for a first WC I wouldnt bother with chipset cooling

you dont NEED a resevoir, you can install a "T" junction on the inlet side of your pump with a vertical section of tubing with which you can add liquid. But you would need to keep an eye on water levels, if u get too little your pump could suck air with your system running and then you are in bother.

and dont forget you want 2 x 120mm fans to cool the rad.

Thanks for the quick replys and advice.

Here are the revisions:

GPU Block - DangerDen Maze4 Acetal Top LowProfile GPU Block (1/2")
Water Additive - Still need advice I have no clue
Water Die - Still need advice I have no clue
Fans - I have a 38mm deep Panaflo FBA12G12L already should i get another or which fans are best?

Ok taken the chipset block out. Can't find 1/2 inch Masterkleer tubing anywhere, found 7/16" though?? Think I will keep the reservoir for the time being may remove it later.

for water additives just a standard water wetter type will do, as long as it prevents algae growth.

cant comment on dyes as I dont use them myself.

as far as Fans go, its a matter of choice...performance or silence?

for performace get some panaflow's and for silence get akasa ambers, or if you dont like the clear/ornage acryllic look, get some sharkoon silent eagles (black and white)

Additives, get zerex or water wetter they both do the same job and work well, Dyes mean that you will have to drain and refill your case a lot more often than someone who doesnt use them because they stain your tubing very quickly and they leave residue on your blocks, and if your using a Storm i wouldnt recomend it as it could get blocked very easily, cheaper tubing is clearflex.

Zerex racing coolant is generally thought of as being the best additive, doesn't smell anywhere near as bad as Water Wetter and Purple Ice leaves quite a bad scale/deposit after a while.

Does it actually make any difference to temps? I just use deionised water with some halfords anitfreeze, been using it for years without any corrosion/algae in my systems.
