Is this a low x1800xt performance?

I've got a 256mb version of the card, not 512 like all the guys saying they get over 9k at stock with cpu higher.
It is my cpu though my memory fsb is also very bad, 8800 isnt bad im sure with a opteron it would be over 9K with the cpu above 2.7.
A venice at 2.7ghz is effectively a opteron at 2.5ghz remember.

9k isn't really a lot to ask though. I am a n00b overclocker and I'm very confident even I could break 10k if I wasn't stuck with Catalyst Overdrive (it's maxed out for me) and stock cooling on my CPU and VPU.

Maybe these sapphire cards aren't all that you bargained for? People seem to be getting low scores with them

Maybe that's why they're so cheap :o

I'd say 9k is great considering I'm using a Jerry-rig of an overclocked CPU, a ghetto motherboard, and some of the cheapest and crappest RAM available right now. All on stock cooling, I might add. ;)

I smell a bitter fanboy in our midst. :o

P.S. They're cheap because OCuk struck a deal with Sapphire. Is that so hard to believe? No need to take it out on us because it burns you like the wicked witch of the west skinny-dipping to see excellent value cards with "ATi" written on.

i get 9500 using overdrive with 690/790. i think 10k would be quite achieveable if i could work out how to alter the voltage. :(
You can do it using ATi Tool if you disable 2D mode, check the "Official X1900 Overclocking Thread" for instructions (it applies to X1800s too.)

Personally though, I'd rather wait for a new version of ATi Tray Tools which supports the X1*00 series. Something about those tweaks disturbs me, and I'm not sure why.

It's to do with disabling ATi services (Start ~> Run ~> "services.msc") and I think the "overclocker.exe" program is involved somewhere. Not sure entirely.

But then I think you bump the voltage for 2D mode and increase the clocks to the 3D speeds you want... I think... I could be totally wrong, it went a bit whoosh on me.

Look at my sig you prat, i've got an X1800 XT 256MB from Connect3D.

How did you guys manage to get the core so high (700 is a lot).
Have you added extra volts via the bios or something?
I just ran ATI tool asking it to find max core, it tops out at 637.20 which is kinda low?

I can't really help you with the x1800, vegeta, as i have an x1900 but there's a good thread here that may help you with voltage adjustments etc.
