Is this a motherboard issue?

i just finish building my PC and it boots up ok but if i try to load any OS it starts loading the installtion program but then just sits there and does nothing

any ideas what it could be. i have tried linux and windows and both start off loading from the CD then just stop there and do nothing

If you are trying to install 64bit Vista just leave it for a bit. It sat at a loading / installation background (the bluey green screen) with no windows for ages when I tried to install and I thought there was a problem at first.

Just leave it and come back later. I'm not sure if it is just my computer of if Vista has a habit of doing that .

i have windows installted now but it does have a odd blip where the montor goes blank and there no lights on mouse or keyboard
