i was thinking about water chilling, and the idea of a camping fridge/freezer came to me.

my thought was a normal water loop, then before the pump having the fridge with a coil of copper like a spring running through it to finish the loop.

downers,
1. i dont know how long they take to reach min temp.
2. my water temp is about 30c in res so this may be too much to cool.
3. it has probably been tried before and failed.

feel free to blow me out of the "water"

nope, you need to think how a fridge or a freezer works

It takes an object at room temp and chills or freezes it, however the object does not generate heat it only gives off its heat implace of the cold it is taking from the system, you would blow the motor on the fridge/freezer before you got a good cooling solution. You would need a big resivor of water to get the desired effect, you will alos need to safe guard against condensation since the water will below ambient temp.

Have a look at the very complete advanced overclocking thread I have been reading through it the last few nights and some gems there

My Quad @ 3.78 ghz idles at less than that.

Using water thats 30 degrees already will have the reverse effect.

Anything to do with fridges has been suggested , tried , failed before ;)

but thats when i am running my quad at 4.1ghz, and i was talking about load temp. i only run it at that for benching, because core temps go into high 60s.

have a look in to Pelters and water chillers some people have been able to use them with great affect but others have failed drastically.

i looked in to pelts, but to get one to cool a quad would seem to cost an arm and a leg on the elecy bill.
but as it only cools the block there would be less worry about condensation,
than the chiller idea.
