hi, just wondering if my lcd is faulty or not

when i boot windows or a game and the screen is black, i see lighter black in the button,top and some each side.

so just wondering if thats how LCDs are or just mine?

Are you talking about the panel backlight?

It can be more prominent on some models than others.

As said above, that's just backlight bleed, and is usually worse when you're on a less expensive TFT. I have noticeable backlight bleed on my 205bw, but it doesn't particularly bother me. I only really see it when I look for it.

If you spend a bit more money, or specifically buy a monitor you know has no backlight bleed, you won't get it as bad, or at all.

Sounds like you're talking about backlight bleed. I wouldn't say it was 'normal' exactly but lots of LCDs do have it. It's usually light from the backlight escaping round the edge of the panel where it's not sealed well enough. Generally speaking the cheaper the screen the more likely to have backlight bleed, but even a percentage of the best screens will have it.

You can try getting it swapped if it bothers you.
