can anyone help me check the validity anf history of a cpu?
ive just got a used one from ebay and im worried ive been ripped off.
its supposed to be an i5 2500k and 3 month old.

numbers on top are as follows. sr008 3.30ghz costa rica 3151b207.

its difficult to make the numbers out, my eyes arent what they used to be.

do you think its legit? it has been used cause of some old paste on it.

It will fit but it might be a bit smaller and less capable of cooling a quad core, I know the Pentium heatsinks are tiny in height.

All sounds legit. The "3" at the front of the code means it is a Costa Rica I believe.
Get it installed and see what you get.

Ive got a Costa Rica chip. People say it doesnt matter, but I get a lot better clocks/ volts than my friend with a Malaysian chip.

i'm pretty sure it is just silicon lottery, where it comes from makes no difference. the manufacturing is the same and the quality control is the same.
