Hi, was browsing through my local shops webby and for their top of the line pc the specs are...

Intel Core i7 920 2.66 Skt1366 8mb Cache
2gb DDR3 1333 RAM
16x PCI Express Slot
250gb SATA HDD
20x Dual Layer DVD ReWriter
6 x USB 2.0 Ports
Radeon HD3450 512mb Graphics
6 Channel Audio
LAN Port
Multimedia Keyboard
Internet Optical Mouse
Speakers

Price = £569

Considering most of the things listed there are already on the motherboard id have to say yes, or am i being over crittical?

No hotlinking

love all the crap they give you, well at least they ahve a 920 BUT WTH HD3450 WHAT!

3450 is low power. I bet the PSU in that thing is barely enough to power that card, let alone anything more.

For a system with an i7, i'd expect there to be at least a 48xx card, if not a 58xx. I'd also settle for a GTX260 or abvoe if it was an nVidia system.

I agree with all the others. This requires a *COU-RIPOFF-GH*

need at least 4GB RAM for a PC nowadays, especially if you ever plan on using Win7... gotta have that in 64-bit version :)

*edit* Depends on which motherboard they're using. The i7 920 is £200... Its a bad system, but doesn't look to be too much of a ripoff.

Spend a little extra and get something that doesn't have a budget board and budget memory :)

I'd expect at least a 48xx or 260 with that.

It's hard to see what they're aiming it at. The GPU is crap for gaming, the RAM is no use for encoding, the HDD is too small for a server.

IMO they're trying to jump on the i7 bandwagon to get some sales, but are completely scrimping on the rest of the machine.

yup, price the components up and it's not a good deal by any shale of the stick. Sounds like a come and get me advert - low price for an 97 rig but to make useable to it's potential the optional upgrades will add a shed load to the price.

btw C0 isn't a bad chip at all, just that the D0 has proved exceptional really. I'd buy a C0 for a discount over the D anytime.

I bet the most expensive thing in that is the CPU and that is saying something

what do you need exactly? the whole system including monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers? have you got an operating system or do you need that also? we'll quote you one here.

lol thought so :) cant believe they bother to list the things that come built into the mobo as if they are extra features. i only really use their shop for blank media as they are 10 mins away just wasn't prepared for the specs they have on offer for those prices, very bad indeed and i certainly would never get one from there. however i am going to be doing some serious upgrading sometime in January, pure game system (£700-£800 max of possible) so ill be asking a bit of advice come that time. already got an xfx 8800gt gfx so not sure whether that would need an upgrade or not but ill check the prices when the time is right.

Yer upgrade the graphics also that card is old!

Jan should be a good time to buy a new gaming system!

Yeah, by january the full power of the new ATI cards will be realised, probably with a driver update or two. This may force graphics card prices down a little bit. Might even be news of a 58x0X2 card by then, which will pull down the pricey nVidia cards.

Wait till january before you even start looking for things, otherwise you'll mess up by thinking "I could get one of them..." all the time, when there might be something newer, cheaper, faster, or just plain better in january.
