Hi all,
Had some problems setting up my new Netgear DGND3300v2 (see my other posts)
But basically Sky said they wouldn't support it, no problem there though as they said I just needed to keep my old Sagem or DG834GT sky routers, re-plug them in if there was any probs for them to sort.
Problem was someone from Sky called me & said I needed to register this new router. They wanted the MAC & serial number... then they asked for the Network Key.
Why would they need this if they were the ones who sent it to me.
So say Sky, called me on my mobile from this number 02079703600 which some forums are saying is a vodafone call center in India ???
The next call came in on my mobile again from a Sky number 08000512592, this time I was happier to give my details over.
However, the fella on the other end said please hold while I provide someone else with these details. He then came back 5mins later from hold & said they were busy & this other person would call me back in 10mins.
Worried it was some kind of scam, I changed my network key immediately.
The same guy came back to me only 5 mins ago (23:22GMT...while typing this) saying everything was sorted. But how when I had changed my network key?
Worried, I then called Sky & they said I should never have given my network key out & they wouldn't ask for it.
If someone did have my network key momentarily before I changed it can they do stuff on my pc like access bank details etc
Many thanks
Heffers
