is this a scam?

I have an item (gpu) on gumtree and its had some interest but not an amazing amount. Just in the last hour or so ive had 3 mails asking about it and would I post. One asked to use PayPal I said no, one asked for my phone number to discuss it I gave them my number. And the third one was just asking if it was still available in general and would I post it.
Ive given them the same reply, bank transfer only, and only postage via special delivery signed for.
Seems a bit odd ive had three messages asking if I would post it in the last hour or so.
Ive not encountered any problems selling at a distance before but theres always a first time.

Its payday for a lot of people today, could explain the sudden interest.

If they go Paypal, ask them for PPG as I don't think you can recall those payments.

Yeah it's a scam, your phone number has been sold to other scammers and you will be spammed with constant phone calls trying to scam you further.

Not at all. Had a 32" tv on it for about a month with little interest or low ballers. Relisted it after it expired for £5 less and got loads of hits and some guy brought it the next day.

And this. Although when the guy came to mind I put it next to the door and closed all the doors to other rooms.... you never know if its someone coming to look around

I don't really gumtree, trading forums are more to my taste. I use MM here mainly and sometimes AVforums

They can still be reported as unauthorised and charged back.

Usually when I put things on Gumtree it's local people only who contact me as I'm guessing a lot of people would rather do face to face meetings to prevent being scammed, therefore postage isn't brought up.

I would never give out my number however as that could just lead to hassle if it does turn out to be a scammer.
