Is this a solid build for £1500?

My first self build, any suggestions?

The GPU looks a bit underpowered compared to the other components. But I don't have some magic wand to wave and give you a nice powerful and cheap GPUs.

Yeah I'm only gaming at 1080, I think anything higher might be overkill for what I need.

The system will also be used for audio production as well as gaming, that's why I've gone with the 5820.

EVGA G2 650W instead of the SuperFlower. Has SuperFlower internals, 2 years extra warranty and is cheaper.

1 4tb makes more sense.

That depends on whether he's going to build a RAID 1 pack for a bit of redundancy. 4TB is fine providing he's either A: backing up his data elsewhere or B: not storing anything critical on it. 4TB is an awful lot of data to lose if the drive dies, especially if you're putting important data on it!

If you're going single GPU would it make more sense to get Skylake, and then maybe a more powerful GPU.

A Skylake 6600K CPU / Mobo can be had for £303 so which would allow you to get a 980Ti.

I think paying an extra £10 only, to get two drives instead of one, with the same total storage, can be a wise investment. Smaller drives also tend to be a little more reliable.

I'd go with a 390 card myself, you won't need the 8gb at 1080p but the 390 seems to be performing notably better in dx12 than the 970.

If that x99 board supports m.2 drives at pcie x4 speeds consider one of the samsung sm951 drives, check if that mobo likes to boot from them though. a bit more expensive but much faster. Note there are nvme and ahci variants, prolly want the nvme if compatible.
