So, I've not been able to play any PC games for nearly a week, like COD, HomeFront, and RIFT, but Steam will still download games fine, anyway booted up my 360 and PS3 today, and there working fine online, so do you think it could be Steam or my ISP?

Have you made any changes to your network or anything recently? When you say "I've not been able to play', what is actually preventing you? Error messages? No connection? Unable to even start the game?

Sorry guys, totaly forgot to say what was wrong, anyway, if I try and play Black Ops, it won't connect to the servers, RIFT connects fine, but disconnects me in game, and HomeFront keeps saying I've been disconnected from Steam, and no, no changes to my network

If Steam is set to run as Admin turn it off.(or if it's off try with it on)

Is a firewall blocking it perhaps?

You didn't happen to install a new firewall or something did you? Cos it aint steam related as far as i can tell. Its your computer/internet if you keep getting disconnected.

Nope no new firewalls on both my laptop and PC, and I was thinking it was my internet, but its kinda strange why its only affecting games on my PC, and not everything else

Any browser issues? Log onto secure internet sites etc?

You dont have any older disk games you can fish out? I take it you dont have a 2nd pc you can plug into the router and install Steam on?
People above have mentioned firewall changes. Why not just dissable or uninstall it to get it fully out of the equation?

Failing not being able to gleen anything from the above, bite the bullet and back up all your steam game files and then reinstall steam.

Edit: Not much into mmos recently myself, but I am surprised Rift needs you to be logged into Steam to play it, regardless of whether you bought it on steam or not. Why not download their stand alone client and not use Steam that session.

No browser issues, and its happening on both my Dell XPS, and my PC, don't have anyother PC's that have enough power to run the games, I'll try disabling firewalls, and yeah I think a Steam re-install is gonna be the way too go, and RIFT allways seems to launch Steam even when using the .exe

Turn off Anti Virus Software Try A Game or Two
turn off Windows FireWall Try A Game or Two
Try both above together and Try A Game or Two

Go control panel / System and Security / Adminstrative Tools / System Configuration
Go Start up Tab and untick everything but stuff you want to load up on startup or anything with microsoft in the name and Anti Virus Software and Restart your pc
And then try again this always works for me

Also what ISP you on and have you looked at the router maybe that is the problem and How are u connected to it

Might be worth just trying to repair your network connection on both PC and laptop.I had a similar issue last week where my PS3 would connect but pc would have issues.Repaired connection and all is now fine.Longshot but maybe worth a go.

How do you do that?

Steam re-install and disabling anti-virus and firewall didn't work.. guess I'll be stuck with my consoles for the time being

I think you should further investigate getting your Rift license working without Steam. I think you need to make more effort finding out if this is actually anything to do with Steam and it sounds like you have no other non Steam games or computers to work with.
