Hi guys im new to this forum :) i know nothing about overclocking :/ all i know is that its overclocking ...lol to the point.....

so i have a p4 at 2.4ghz 2gb ram and a 80gb hard drive not to forget a 300w PSU and i decided i need something better then a intel family chipset so i started a hunt, something to feed my lone pci Express port sulking near the heatsink

i know this is daft now that i come to ask for advice after i brought the card, talking about the card its is a ...
Sapphire radeon hd4550 512mb gddr3 low retail with a hdmi to hdmi port for 40 quid delivered

the absolute base power needed is 300watts, you guys think i should buy a new psu i can bag a 600 watt for 20 quid

and how do u overclock a graphics card ?

Thanks in Advance:D

Firstly, patience -- no need to bump so soon :)

Now, firstly, I would say don't really bother with overclocking that card. It's really not a gaming card and I doubt it would show you much benefit.

What are you looking to play on the card?

Also, people will be asking what brand PSU you have, but I am assuming you won't know. I doubt there will be any point moving to the £20 600W PSU. If you are going to spend money on a PSU, save a bit mroe and get a decent brand.

Wow, a seven minute bump. Awesome.

Firstly, a £20 600W PSU is going to be bad = really bad.

The 46*0 cards are a much better choice for the money, but it depends what you intend to use the machine for - as in all fairness, if it's for gaming, the P4 just isn't going to cut any mustard whatsoever.

It'd help if you could either tell us the make/model of the current PSU, or the Ampage values (should be written on the side).

you wont regret it, they dont use a lot of power and will plough through newish games at 1280x1024 i would think

awww its too expensive for my budget with the shipping rates .... im gunna stick with the radeon 4550 since its only a p4 its attached to and i aint paying for the games i play im going to play a game called ava which recommended is 256mb grphics card

Sapphire RADEON HD 4670 - Graphics adapter - Radeon HD 4670 - PCI Express 2.0 x16 - 1 GB DDR3 - Digital Visual Interface (DVI), HDMI - HDTV out - lite retail

I can Bag this for 64 quid delivered any views on it guys ?

It will be a lot better than the 4550. Just make double sure it is ddr3 and not ddr2. If it's ddr2, then rather go for a 512mb ddr3 card.

I am assuming your are running a fairly low res - either 1280x1024 or lower, in which case, you won't really even need 1gb. In fact, if you can find a cheaper 512mb card, I would just go for that as you are paying for something you are not likely to get any use out of with the 1gb memory
